The release date for the Oblivion Remastered has been a topic of rumors for years. Bethesda has often re-released Skyrim over the past decade so it is surprising this has not happened earlier. While it may not be a full remake. it is definitely not a low-effort project.

Oblivion Remastered Release Date Revealed

Oblivion Remastered was released on April 22 2025. It was announced during a livestream and immediately launched on PC Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

According to Eurogamer Oblivion Remastered was supposed to be released this week with many expecting it on April 21. Instead Bethesda announced a livestream for April 22 where they promised to reveal more details.

Oblivion Remastered Editions What’s Included?

Oblivion Remastered has two editions: Standard and Digital Deluxe. The standard edition costs $49.99 and you can upgrade to the Digital Deluxe edition for an extra $10.

Oblivion Remastered Leaks What We Know So Far

Rumors about Oblivion Remastered started in 2020 but they seemed too good to be true. The rumors came up again in 2023 after a former Virtuos employee posted on the Elder Scrolls subreddit.

Recently there has been growing talk about Oblivion Remastered with some reporters predicting it might release in the first half of 2025. On Tuesday April 15, 2025 a user named Mattmo831 on Resetera found several Oblivion Remastered images on Virtuos website with the project called Altar in the URL confirming a leak from 2023.

Oblivion Remastered uses Unreal Engine 5 to improve the games graphics. A Reddit leak from 2023 says the remaster runs on Unreal Engine 5 with the original game code so it should feel very similar to the original.

When comparing the original game to the leaked screenshots it seems like Virtuos has made Oblivion look warmer. This might be due to the dynamic lighting system in Unreal Engine 5.

Oblivion Remastered has some updates to make the 2006 game better for today’s players. These changes include a clearer HUD for new players a less punishing stamina system and combat adjustments inspired by Souls-like games. With the release date now here.
