Mafia: The Old Country Release Date May Have Leaked on Steam

It looks like there's not much time left before fans get to play the first new Mafia game in nearly a decade. That's because it appears its release date on Steam has been accidentally revealed.

According to a blog post on the Latin American Steam storefront, Mafia: The Old Country will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on August 8, 2025. The eighth tournament will be held on Friday, which is historically the day when major triple-A titles have launched.

The blog post which is still up at the time of this writing is advertising a PAX East panel that Hangar 13 will host on May 8. The panel announced on Thursday will reveal new details about the upcoming game, including its release date. However the blog post accidentally spoiled the big surprise.

For whatever reason the English version of the blog post does not give a release date, making this an unfortunate error.

The Old Country Announcement Came Last August Here’s What We Know

Interestingly Mafia: The Old Country if it does launch, will be exactly a year after its announcement. The game was announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live, and will take players to the origins of organized crime.

A few months later in December at The Game Awards a new trailer was shown along with a release window of Summer 2025 The nearly two-minute-long trailer reveals more about the 1900s backdrop, including the apparent lack of technology and the absence of main character Enzo Favara.

As far as gameplay is concerned, game director Alex Cox and Hangar 13 president Nick Benes shared that the title will be closer in scope to Mafia 2 and the original Mafia than the open world of Mafia 3. In an interview, they called The Old Country a linear narrative based game that is a focused package that offers a cinematic experience.

With Mafia set to launch in August month and eighth month of the calendar is shaping up to be quite a Very good month. First of all, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater also released in August. In other words, get your wallet ready.
