Dinkum which adds an Australian twist to this style has been in early access for a while but is now officially released.
Dinkum like Stardew Valley, was created by one developer James Bendon. who has been working on it for years. The game launched in early access in 2022 but we were interested in it even before that. It has shown great potential with a 93% user score on Steam. Its success has caught the attention of Krafton the publisher of Inzoi and Subnautica.
The game takes place in a world inspired by Bendon’s home country Australia. You will gather resources grow crops catch fish and trap insects. but be careful of the dangerous Aussie animals. If you have the right tools you can hunt or trap them.
In Animal Crossing you pay off a grumpy tanuki in the beginning. but in Dinkum you control your town. You can expand it bring in new residents and charge them rent to make passive income while also farming foraging and doing other tasks. If you enjoy interior design, Dinkum lets you build and customize your home too.
