It has what it takes to compete with top games like Final Fantasy and Persona. In this turn-based RPG you create a team to explore and defeat a creature called the Paintress. Every year the Paintress adds a new number to a large monolith. If your age matches the number you will die soon. As the years go by the number gets smaller marking a countdown to the end of humanity.

Now At first I was a bit unsure about Expedition 33. I have seen many games with big voice casts like Ben Starr Jennifer English Charlie Cox and Andy Serkis that promised great stories but ended up being too short or having disappointing gameplay.

The game’s high Metacritic score of 92 tied with Blue Prince as the best of the year so far has put my worries to rest. Our own review of Expedition 33 gave it a solid 8/10 which is on the lower end compared to other reviews.

The launch of Clair Obscur Expedition 33 on Steam has been a big success. It has a great user score of 93% labeled as very positive and reached over 50,000 players at its peak.
