In Assassin's Creed Shadows, you have powerful abilities and you can use them to get revenge on a group of Ronin who did something truly terrible. The game has a big world to explore and lots of interesting characters to meet. One of the best examples of this is the Guardian Spirit side quest.
How to Start the Guardian Spirit Quest in Assassin's Creed Shadows
To start the Guardian Spirit quest you first need to finish the story mission The Horseman which also completes the First Act of the game. Once that’s done go west to the Harima region. There you will find the quest starting point inside the Itatehyzou Shrine. Look for a crying young girl in the southeast corner of the shrine she is the one who gives you the quest.
Talk to her and she’ll tell you she’s an orphan her mother was killed by the Ronin. You agree to help by taking down the violent Ronin now that Oda Obunaga is gone.
The Guardian Spirit quest has three parts. You can find them under the orphaned girl in the People of Harima board.
First kill 5 Ronin to get 500 EXP and 750 Mon. And Next kill 10 Ronin to get another 500 EXP plus 225 oakwood and 270 silk. And Then Finally kill 25 Ronin to earn 750 EXP 300 ironsand and 300 tamahagane.
Ronin Locations Guide in Assassin's Creed Shadows
In AC Shadows this mission is different because you won't get hints about where to find Ronin in the Harima region. Do not worry though. There are a few spots where Ronin often appear and they are marked on the map above. Just remember a few things when you visit these places to find Ronin.
In locations one and three you will probably only find one Ronin if any. This makes them easier to defeat since there are fewer enemies but it will take longer to reach 25 defeats. However if you loop through all three areas the Ronin will respawn after you have defeated the previous ones.
The Habayama Camp in Harima has the most Ronin. There are usually five or six in the camp with a few more walking nearby. Defeating all of them is tough but doing so will make the mission quicker.
How to Defeat Ronin in Combat in Assassin's Creed Shadows
Ronin are tough enemies in AC Shadows. They have a lot of health and deal heavy damage. So one hit can often be fatal if you are not at a high level or do not have strong armor. If you miss a block or dodge, it can lead to desynchronization making it frustrating to face even a group of them on lower difficulty levels.
When playing as Naoe you can't usually assassinate enemies because they are too strong. The only choice is to fight them directly but there are a few tricks to make it easier.
If you are having trouble defeating Ronin, try playing as Yasuke. He can take a hit better than Naoe and deals more damage. Yasuke also has a special ability that helps you kill Ronin in the Habayama Camp. If you have the War Kick Samurai ability you can kick a Ronin off a cliff into the forest if there's a gap in the wall. The fall usually kills them and you will also unlock the This is Japan Actually trophy/achievement if you have not already.
Make sure to save often as you can lose progress when fighting Ronin if the game doesn't autosave.
Returning To The Orphan Quest Guide
After defeating the 25th and final Ronin return to the orphaned girl at Itatehyzou Shrine. Talk to her and she will thank you for defeating the Ronin giving you gold and 2,000 Mon as a reward.
